Yep. You read it right.

i have a new Sun Devil (billet) lower and Geissele match trigger. When I inserted the trigger and hammer pins from Geissele into the lower's holes they EASILY slide in, even the thicker pin that came with the trigger kit, that you should only use if you have a bigger hole. I'm concerned that the hammer pin will walk out at the worst time (whenever I use it).

According to Geissele this thicker pin should (if necessary) need considerable finger pressure to insert and they specify to NOT use KNS pins.

Geissele is closed up until mid August. So, I haven't gotten a reply from them yet, but have any of you billet lower users had this problem.

Is there a fix?

Thanks

Its probably an out of spec receiver

A lot of the billet lowers seem to have large pin holes.  The retaining spring in the hammer should hold the hammer pin in even if the oversize pin rotates.  You can use the KNS pins in your case as the pin holes are larger than normal.....just use the .1555" dia KNS pins.....not the .154" diameter KNS pins.

I just talked to Bill Geissele on the phone (nice guy).

Basically, there is a hidden small retaining spring inside the hammer hole that catches a groove in the center of his pins. This should keep the pins from walking out even if the lower hole is slightly large.

This "locking" might result in a very slight off center of the hammer pin in the receiver, but it won't effect performance.

KNS and other pins do not have this groove in their center. Therefore, they will stretch out the hidden retaining spring.  If you decide to switch back to Geissele pins the stretched retaining spring won't hold.

I'll stick with his pins to see if they hold o.k. If they start to walk, I'll switch to KNS permanetly.

Thanks all
Will

Actually its the fact that Geissele hammer pins have the grove on the left side rather than the middle.

I had the same problem with the hammer pin on my DPMS lower. It wasn't extremely loose, but it was loose enough that I decided to use the oversized pin included. I have the Match trigger as well.

Shouldn't the title read "Problem with Sun Devil (billet) lower" ?

Your trigger is not the problem... your lower is... Your title is misleading

O, and by the way. Your right Bill is a nice guy!

Like there has never been a problem with a forged lower.
I have a Spikes lower that has sloppy trigger pin holes.
