How does this Model 1 Sales 20" Varmint Upper
http://www.model1sales.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=UV2000&storeid=1&image=uvarm20.gif

Compare to a DPMS 20" Bull SS Upper, the price is about $70 lower than the cheapest DPMS I have found.

Also anyone know where I can get a lower receiver for under $95

Should I get .223 or 5.56. If I know correctly 5.56 will allow me to shoot both .223 and 5.56, but I was curious if it were chambered in .223 would it be more accurate than shooting .223 through a 5.56

Thanks

I don't know about model1 but I bought a 24 varmint kit from m-aparts and it has not missed a beat.

I've just recently gotten that exact same upper from them with the SS bull bbl.  I haven't fired it yet but all the other equipment I have from them has functioned flawlessly and proved to be highly accurate.  I'm confident I will be happy with this one as well.

Weight wise, it is a bit heavy but heck, bull bbls simply weigh more than lighter profiles.

In the long run it may be best to have it chambered in 5.56.  Safety wise, you don't run the risk of accidently firing a longer 5.56 round in the slightly shorter .223 chamber (the difference is in the throat area).  You will also be able to shoot the different surplus ammos out there without chamber related issues.

Have fun,
MLG

I've seen more than a few broken M1S parts. No thanks.

Not to be smart, but if you shoot AR15's enough, you will eventually see parts break.

Yup, and when one brands parts seem to be breaking at much great frequency than others... thats a hint.

Carriers with no to poor stakes, a guy who works with me has a M1S barrel which key holes at 15 yards (no, it isnt shot out), a broken stock, one broken hammer pin are what I can recall from this year.

The thread was about M1S so I was sticking with that, but I have had problems with Bushmaster as well. It seems there are very few companies who care to stake a key propperly. I have no idea why?
