Making plans for my next build and was looking for ideas for the lower. I already have DPMS and Spikes and have had an Eagle Arms in the past. All are nice, but I want something different just for different's sake. I was thinking LMT or maybe Noveske. What do you guys think on a regular lower (not billet) that is actually obtainable?

I just go for the mil spec ones. I've got 2 dpms right now...

I can tell you to stay away from the stag. I had one and used it to build a rifle for a friend. The lower still requires a hammer to seperate it from the upper. It just has WAY too much finish on it and is WAY too tight of clearance between the upper and lower. I have also talked to several others who have had this problem with stag.

Go for a Noveske.  They are easy to get, pretty good price, have a cool logo, and have a really nice finish.

Semi = Noveske

Auto = Colt

Those are cool.

Get a Colt 6721 lower . . . it'll probably be the only one you can find that actually IS an AR-15 (AR-15A3 Tactical Carbine, to be exact)!!!!!!!

Give Tina at Specialized Armament Warehouse a call.  That's where I got my complete 6721 lower to complete my Colt A3 Tactical.

Go with Mega! By far one of the nicest lowers you can buy.

This place cracks me up.  "Mil-Spec" and "DPMS" don't belong in the same room.  Unless it's made by Colt or FNH and has a go-switch, it's not mil-spec.

Go with whatever logo makes your pants get tight, if that's what you're into.

STAG, CMMG, RRA, Spikes, Anvil, DPMS, it doesn't matter, they're all the same except the rollamark.

Just get yourself a Stag unless you fear the deer

ETA:  And don't listen to the BS MilSpec comments on here.

25 posts and he's already had the Colt koolaid.Mil-spec has little to do with whose name is stamped on the lower. Most of them are made at the same two or three places anyway.

the Mega Gator looks cool, but since many of them won't drop the mag free, not worth messing with them.

I bought one because of the reputation on this forum. Turns out not everything on this forum is 100%

Noveske has one of the nicest lowers on the market.  Fit and finish is better than any other maker I have seen.  Their logo is one of the coolest too!

NoDak Spud retro lowers are cool and are regular. But i have to say anything that is "cool" is going to cost more.

Its not a milspec lower unless its full auto.  The military doesn't spec out non-FA lowers, they simply pull parts if they want it something other than FA.

Back to the original question, its going to be a matter of looks and what you like best.  The Noveske is one of the best looking to my eye, but thats just me.

I am new here guys but my first stripped Stag lower went together slick with a DPMS LPK. It fits a Bushmaster upper just fine. Another Stag lower will soon be in the house, this time with either an RRA or Stag upper. This thread has had the first and ONLY negative post about Stag I have seen on this site. Can't prove it by me though, I am a happy and satisfied camper (Stag owner)....<><....

There was a billet stainless RR manufactured for a while.  That would be pretty cool!

Thank you Stick.  Funny how someone with 20k posts and someone with 25 posts can have the same thing to say.  Maybe there's no correlation between number of posts and actual knowledge on a subject.  Anyone here going to accuse Stick of drinking koolaid?  I doubt it.    Some things aren't koolaid, they're simply facts.

I don't have one,  but personally I think the coolest lower is the Stubborn Mule Rogue-15.
