Just noticed that CAA has a polymer rail, and was curious to see if anyone had any inputs on this polymer rail?

Is it as durable as a aluminum rails?

Is there optics mounting issues?
Such as degredation of the rail when optics continuously mounted and remount to the polymer rail?

Thanks,

Not really a good choice. Not as strong as aluminum, will never hold an optic, and many access. that made to spec will not fit it.

look for Brightflashlights.com in the industry section and buy a YHM handguard from them. might cost you a tiny bit more but it's well worth it.

That's what I thought. I was just curious to see if anyone had any other thoughts on a polymer rail system.

suspect.

I bought one to try. It's made out of thick plastic, and I thought it would hold up. (I put it on the bottom of a handguard for a VFG.) It didn't hold up, was not as solid as an aluminum rail. Even though it was tightened all the way, there was play on the outer edges of the rail. I can't answer about optics, though. I went ahead and bought a MI aluminum rail to replace it.

My buddy bought one from cheaper than dirt and for the money its not bad.  He has a vertical grip installed on it and its actually really solid.  The rail has a lifetime warranty so you really cant go wrong for the $10.
