I have seen a couple folding stocks on AR's and am wondering how they work.  Take the MASADA for example.  That is an AR type platform that has a folding stock.  I have also seen a couple others.  Am I mistaken.  Who makes these.  Is is possible to get one of the MASADA stocks when they come out.  Would it be compatible with a AR?

Folding stocks will only work with a piston based upper & ZM weapons.

AR-15.com has a AR-15 for sale on the website with a folding stock. 95% of AR's need a buffer tube that can't be folded.

The Masada looks like it is piston too IIRC.

It is piston driven, no need for buffer & spring, hence the ability to have a folding stock.

Look into the differences between a stock AR15 gas system, (which cannot have a folding stock) and those newer "piston" gas systems sold now, (which can have a "folding" stock).

You'll then find out why some can and some can't.....

I have a POF-USA 16" upper.  Think one would work on that?

ZM weapons LR300 is also capable of a folding stock.  I believe it uses traditional gas system but the springs are in front of the bolt carrier instead of behind the buffer.

Nope, Thats a dirrerent type of Piston system.

The piston systems that work use a different recoil system, not a buffer and tube.

Like the one Oyl. Arms use to make, as well as the ZM weapons system.

No.

Folding stocks only work with ARs that move the action spring to someplace else (either inside the upper or over the gas tube area.

There are both DI and piston uppers available that can use folding stocks.

Just as there are DI and Piston uppers that use the standard buffer/spring assembly and thus can't fold.
