I just got my LMT Defender w/ SOPMOD buttstock.  I'm pretty happy with it, but have a few questions.  When the stock is pushed all the way in, the lever has some lateral movement in it.  Not much, but enough to easily move it with my fingers.  When it's extended it's not there.  Is there a way to tighten the lever up a bit?  

Also, is there a trick to getting the buttstock off the extension tube?  The instructions say just push the lever and pull...but something doesn't seem right with that and I don't want to force it.

First, don't worry about the wobble.  As long as it is locked up you are good to go.

To remove the stock from the buffer tube, you will need to literally pull the entire latch mechanism away from the stock and pull the stock off the tube.  You might want to first put the stock in its rearmost position before removing it.

The stock isn't locking into the detent when it's pushed all the way up to the receiver, pull it back a little bit and it should lock into the first detent.

To remove the stock, open all the way, then cam the lever down and remove the stock from the tube.

Actually upon closer inspection, even when it's locked in it's moving.  And it does happen regardless of where it's locked in.

Actually upon closer inspection, even when it's locked in it's moving.  And it does happen regardless of where it's locked in.

It could be that the pin itself is just slightly smaller in diameter than the holes in the buffer tube.

The pin doesn't move.  It's litterally just the lever portion that slides back and forth.

I still can't get the buttstock off.  I must be SOPMOD retarded.  I need to get the buttstock off to get to the battery tubes/storage, correct?

I don't know about the storage tubes on the LMT SOPMOD stock.

However, the stock will come off just like all other collapsible stocks.

Grab the entire latch mechanism with your index finger and thumb on either side of the pin.  Then pull on the entire unit perpendicular to the buffer tube.  You should feel some tension as the latch itself is spring-loaded.  Put the stock in its last position and pull the latch mechanism as described.  You only need to pull it enough to clear the buffer tube "pin channel" as I call it.  The stock should pop right off.

Pressing the latch alone will disengage the pin from the holes but will not give you enough clearance to get the pin out of the channel it runs in.

It sounds weird, but once you do it you will realize how easy it is.

What you said makes sense.  More sense then just pushing the latch and pulling on it.  I've put it away for the night, I'll give it a shot tomorrow.  Thanks for the answers.

you could tighten the nut on the lever...

carefully tap out the roll pin and tighten the lever nut... once the the lever is snug enough not to rattle (probably 1/2 - 1 turn) line up the hole in the bolt with the hole in the nut, and reinstall the roll pin...

Well son of a bitch, I got it!

I actually found it easiest to move the lever in the opposite direction you would to adjust the stock.  It was actually insanely easy to do that way...I feel like an idiot for not figuring it out yesterday.

Now that the stock is off, do you see what I mean about how you can literally pull the entire latch unit away from the stock body to facilitate removal?

I knew what you were talking about, just wasn't pulling hard enough.  I'm being way too gentle with it I feel.

I don't know if it was designed to work the way I did it or not, but it isn't hurting anything.  There really is no "pivot" point.  The way I got it off could easily be used to just adjust the stock without problems, it's just not nearly as convenient.
