I use an entry length "stubbie" stock on my M4 barreled carbine, and I was wondering if the stock extenders out there for A2 stocks would also work with the entry length stock.

From what I can tell, the entry uses a carbine length receiver extension, but it is round like the A2 version. Does the A2 extender utilize some sort of spacer to fill the gap between the receiver extension and the buttstock itself (on the inside)?

And before anyone asks, I don't want a collapseable stock on the carbine. I have a Stag unit laying there, but don't like the rattle from the stock on the recevier extension. I also like a short length of pull, so an A1 is out as well.

I've used a stubby with an extender (the kind that fits between the stock and the lower receiver.  Yes they can work - and I found using rubber washers (gaskets for garden hoses) worked fine as a spacer.

HOWEVER, it was never as 'solid' as I would have liked it to be.  Personally I found the Sully Stock to be a better answer.  Its the length of a stubby stock plus 1" and weighs a bit more (it balances a carbine perfectly).  The Sully stocks also come with an optional 1" thick buttplate in case you want to extend it a bit more (so it will be a little shorter than an A1 stock).

The Sully uses the same receiver extension as the stubby so you don't need to change that (just sell your stubby on the EE with the receiver extension that comes with the Sully).

Don't forget the rubber but pad that would add 3/4" to the length of pull.
