I am going to purchase my first AR15 and there are many manufactureres out there and the prices vary from $800 - $2000. I realize that in general, you get what you pay for in firearms as I have experienced with handguns, but I also know that with certain handguns the price difference is definitely based solely on the manufacturers name. I can purchase a DPMS starting at around $800 while Bushmaster starts at around $1000 or so, and the Colts start at around $1400. Are the quality / accuracy so different in these rifles and do thier prices accurately reflect thier peformance? Thanks in advance for your opinions.

My first AR was a Bushmaster M4A3.  I had to by the postban version because I live in NY

I put a few bucks into it and it shoots like a dream with the only FTF problems being caused by Ammo.

+1, but I will offer my humble opinion as well. If you are interested in a Carbine: Noveske N4, Colt 6920, LMT, Sabre Defence. The best bang for the buck though is the ADS M4, it sells for $825 from most dealers and has all the features that the high-end rifles have including 4150 barrel steel, ect. The ONLY problem is the key is not staked well, but that is a quick fix and for $825 and all the features of the Colt 6920 just without the name, oh, plus it is Ceracoated too, I belive.

For an A2 rifle:

Sabre Defence, Colt, Armalite, RRA, Bushmaster

Again, JMHO.

Thanks for your input and sorry for posting previously posted questions. This is my first time to this site so I just thought I'd throw the question out there. Thanks anyway.
