How does one authenticate a genuine KAC RAS? How are the airsoft versions different? I just did a trade for a new RAS kit but the lettering is slightly different from my older Vero Beach RAS, the rail panels have a slightly different font on the shorter sections, and the VFG has a different font than my old one. I normally wouldn't worry but I keep hearing abou tthe airsoft knock offs. On the inside, it is marked: KNIGHT'S ARMAMENT COMPANY Titusville, FL 06/10/05 Thoughts? |
| I have never seen a knock off stamped "Titusville" on the inside. All the ones I've heard of, or seen pics of were marked "Vero Beach". Most of the Chicom ones had writing on the outside under the top rail, and included a made up phone number. Knight's has changed fonts and wording a couple of times on the rail covers and VFG. Yours is probably legit. |
The older short rails were cut down 11rib panels using one mold. The newer short panels, in black, are now molded in the shorter length. The other colors are only molded in 11rib. |

TITUSVILLE is the correct address I would ONLY buy from a Recomended Dealer here ! Paul at BRAVOCOMPANY was out of KAC RAS SO he sent me to OPERATION PARTS I bought my KAC RAS close to 2 years or so It has a Dull Like Finish Came in a White box marked as follows KNIGHT`S ARMAMENT COMPANY 701 COLUMBIA BLVD. TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA 32780 (321) 607-9900 FAX; (321) 268-1498 P/N; 98064 M-4 ( RAS ) RAIL ADAPTER SYSTEM Also came with 4 page DIRECTIONS DATED ON BOTTOM OF EVERY PAGE IS DEC 2005 1 INST-00044 |
| Fas anyone commenting actually seen fake KAC gear? I've seen the knock off Aimpoints, but they are obvious & are advertised as Airsoft or as clones. I've never seen a KAC clone up close other than the Hong Kong suppliers & even they advertise their stuff as a clone or knock off. I'm curious what an actual clone KAC item looks like. |
|
I had a copy, it was a M4 FF type. It had the wrong phone no., the area code was for Long Beach, Ca. and the part no. was wrong. It looked good, but when comparing it to another RAS the machining of the rails was different. There many companies that make knock offs. |
|
+1 also, some (newer?) are marked: KNIGHT'S ARMAMENT COMPANY Titusville, FL xx/xx/xx ETA: another thing to check are T, L, R and B numbers....some clones are markend in the wrong order |
|
I checked again, mine is authentic. It's apparently just a different vintage that the other ones I've had. I figured out a small detail that convinced me it was authentic---the hex head bolt had the factory Loctite dab still on it and I'm pretty sure that the airsofters wouldn't go that far. Also, if their markings are incorrect, it should be a pretty easy ID. Thanks. |
I PAID ALOT FOR MY KAC RAS AND KAC VPG On my RAS the T markings are Faded out Dull looking and the ANODIZING isnt rich and dark I thought It was a FAKE as soon as I got ot it But It came from a RECOMENDED DEALER OPERATIONPARTS.COM Paul at Bravo company didnt have any Left instock so he sent me to Operationparts.com I think US GUYS will be Fine If we buy from the Dealers here |
I just got some used RAS panels from the EE, and damned if one of them wasn't a knockoff. Has the phone number 561-562-5697 under the Vero Beach, FL marking, and was made of cheap feeling, softer, and glossier than normal plastic. Probably not worth the trouble to mail back, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Friggin' airsofters ESAD! Paladin ETA: Some guys set me straight, likely did NOT get a knockoff, just an older version. |
Whats under performing about it? It does the job exactly as it is supposed to... What because its not the newest fangled peice of hardware out there? Ive used KAC rail systems for years both in combat and on my own weapons without a single issue. |
Having Vero Beach inscribed on a panel doesn't mean they're fakes. Just means they're of older make. That's their old address. |
That was their real phone number. Look here: www.quarterbore.com/library/pdf_files/kac_ras_inst.pdf I think you may have an older one, I also have a 2 rib w/ that number also and my RAS is dated 2000 |
Ive got several knights products and they all have slightly different markings. They will even change the markings from when they were made to the next batch. Theres no one end all marking that they use... |
I do think there are FAKE Plastic Rail Covers out there! With Vero beach address and Titusville BTW My KAC RAS & KAC VPG came from OPERATIONPARTS The pannels just say KINGHT`S ARMAMENT My Extra 6 RIB Rail Panel came it Plastic wrap with KAC P/N 97168 also has PH # and FAX # I DONT THINK OPERATIONPARTS SELL FAKES?? but I could be WRONG |
Right. There are clones of just about very AR accessory out there. Just answering the other poster's question directly. Having Vero Beach doesn't neccessarily indicate a fake. There are variations on every KAC piece I own as well as everyone else. I also get my KAC gear from Operation Parts. Outstanding company to deal with. |
