[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Barrel markings

I'm sure that this has been covered before, but I can't find anything with the search option. I'm looking to ID a barrel and upper that I have. It's an 11" barrel with a permanently mounted 5" flash-hider. Standard A2 upper. The only markings that I can find are "SS" with "5.56" underneath, on the top of the barrel just forward of the front sight. On the underside of the barrel, just infront of the receiver is a single "S".

I can't find any marks on the receiver/bolt.

Sounds like an Olympic barrel. Chances are the upper is Olympic as well.

Edit to add: The S.S. means it is a stainless steel barrel. They did offer blackened ones as well as stainless "in the white".
