I'm hoping to save some $$$ by using other's experience.  I have a 16 "LW upper that I plan on attatching a light, VFG, and 2 pt sling to, at the most.  Would using a FF railed HG offer any practical advantage to using a 2 pc railed guard like the MI#18?  I understand that FF barrells are more accurate at range, but this rifle will be used for ranges of 100m and closer 99.9% of the time (urban patrol rifle).

Thanks.

IMO, at the distance you're talking about, a FF handguard won't make much of a difference.  In fact even out to a couple hundred yards with the two piece railed hanguard it will be fairly accurate.  My RRA CAR 15 with Midwest Industries four railed handguard is a sub MOA shooter out to 300 yards without any modifications or a FF barrel.  That's even with a bipod mounted on the bottom rail.  I think you would be fine.

Thanks Bester, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear from someone.  Now I need to decide between the YHM and MI.

The MI's are well built, solid and fit tight.  I especially like the MI two peice because you can have it on your rifle and not need rail covers because the rails don't cut into your hands like some of the other do.  They're smoother than other even more expensive brands.  It was a major selling point for me because I don't like the look and feel of fat rail covers.
