 first transfer of M16Its a M16-A1 carbine, EssArms/bushmaster conversion, plain looking classic rifle. It has a 16 inch lite barrel and 2 pos stock, safe/semi/full. I am debating on where to leave it as is or modify it. I have a A1carbine w/6pos stock very similar to the M16 above. plain gun but for simple scope and hunting bipod I also own a SBR that has the whole rail/laser/red dot/light/ 3pt sling/ ambidexsturous evertyhing, ace m4 stock, noveske kx3... yada yada. not plain gun THere is somethng about that whole tactical rifle that is cool but in reality shooting a plain a1 carbine w/16" barrel is just or more effective given i dont need lights or lasers etc.. Simple is better sometimes. I get too have my super tactcal rifle or plain jane. Should I leave this registered M16 in orginal order or modify it some? Those 6 position stocks , or 2, or 4, or 5 postion stocks annoy me. They suck. I like the ACE M4 stock and think it is superior to anything other than a real rifle stock. I also like the ambi bolt catch, selector/sefety, and anti-roll pins. Those are really handy. If I leave the M16 as is I will have a spare shorter upper to run on it, in a-1 commando conguration. Howvever the tempation to put one of those fine ACE m-4 stocks and a POF 11.5 piston upper, ambi-parts, anti-roll pins, and high presicion optics is on the other shoulder... what should I do? If My intentions are of the gunbeing worht more than current value should I leave it be? Build a 2nd one? |

My M16s (including one just like yours, except it's a Norrell conversion) have a lot of uppers to choose from. Offhand I say the following get the most use as full auto's (in the listed order): 1. Keuhl dedicated 22LR upper 2. Garrison Mfg 9mm 7.5" upper 3. Noveske 10.5" 5.56 upper 4. CMMG 11.5" 5.56 upper 5. Bushmaster M4A3 14.5" 5.56 upper 6. No Name 7.5" 5.56 upper I had a trick 18" SPR upper built for use on one of the 16 lowers. It was so accurate in semi that I ended up building up another semi lower (with Magpul stock and CMC trigger group) and it lives there  All of my AR uppers have M16 carriers, so I can use any of them on the M16s. I also have two SBRs pending so I can have other homes for the short barrel uppers.
