What is the point of having a rail system if all you are gonna put on it are rail covers? |
|
A Free Float setup with the ability to add goodies if you want? I only say that because I plan on being that goofball guy that has a rail system with nothing but covers... I know I don't really need it but again do I really truely need my AR (I have a 12 gauge for home defense). And for that matter I don't really need my Remy 700 that is capable of reaching out to 900 meters

The purpose of covers is to protect the soft aluminum rails from getting damaged. Rails are for mission specific gear that you may not always need to have on your rail.. (e.g. White or IR lights. laser designators. GL sights,Grenade launchers, Vertical grips, sling adapters, etc) That's why there are so many types of QD mounts. Leave the covers off.. Damage the soft aluminum rail and then the next time you go to mount your gear... it does not fit. Covers also help with Heat so you don't burn your self touching exposed rail after rapid fire. Don't need any mission specific gear on your rail.??? No sweat.. stick with the stock hand-guards and sleep easy... |
