Since the sticky full of links still isnt working. I'll ask the question direct.

I recently aquired an A3 Upper (Flat top with T markings, and a Keyhole outline just above the forward assist.

Anyone know what Brand, or who made this upper?

Wrong.

Cerro Forge made the raw forging that someone else turned into a finished piece. But since every manufacturer has used Cerro forgings at one time or another, the forge mark doesn't tell you a damn thing about who actually made the piece.

And why do we get this question---with the attendant wrong answers, at least once a week? Pardon me if I come across as snappish---but it does get old.

The big Stickied INFO thread is broke or otherwise INOP, so I had to resort to asking the question.

And just how do you know they didn't finish it?????

Show me where they DON'T make a finished upper.

Cerro is just a forging house, not a machine shop.  You can find the Cerro Forge "keyhole" throughout the industry going back many, many years, across multiple machine shops and manufacturers, on both A2 and A4 uppers.
As long as the forging is correct, the maching becomes the important aspect of who made the upper.  Short of marking them (as RRA has been doing for a few years now)or, for instance Colt, having proprietary additional forging marks, it is very difficult to determine which company a given upper receiver is from.
