I am considering switching uppers for my Colt AR.  I would be going from back and forth from a Colt Delta HBAR to a M4 style Colt upper.  I intend on using the same bolt carrier set up for both.

Is there anything I should check when dropping the bolt in between uppers, or should it be interchangable?  Head Spacing?

Forgive my ignorance, but i'm more used to HK's and 1911's where adjustments are a constant.

While the bolt is technically interchangable between the two uppers, I don't recommend actually doinf that as a normal practice.

The reasoning goes something like this.
When you start with a new bolt and barrel, the bolt lugs and barrel extension lugs will "break in" to each other.
This might only involve a couple ten thousandths of actual wear until the lugs are making better contact.
Then the wear pretty much stops for most of the rest of the service life of the parts.
If you make a habit of sharing a bolt, it's possible for the bolt and extension to "break in" to each other over and over and over, each time you swap the bolt and fire a few hundred rounds.

The best practice is to have a bolt dedicated to each upper.
If you MUST swap bolts, buy yourself a headspace gauge and use it once a year.

Agreed. Swapping a BCG between 2 different uppers, though technically possible, is not recommended.

Buy a 2nd quality BCG and carry on.
