I am looking at barrel assemblies for a new build and came across an option at CMMG for a flat delta ring. I think I've seen at least one picture of one and it looked good. Someone referred to it as an A1 style delta ring. I was wondering if there is a reason I should stay away from it, since it sounds like old technology. I don't plan to go free float, so I will be needing the delta ring. I don't find the standard delta ring all that appealing, so that is why I was contemplating the flat delta ring. Any advice is appreciated.

When I built my upper I used the flat deltat ring from CMMG, no problems at all. I like it for a smoother fit. John

I recently purchased a flat delta ring for an IDF clone build. So far I don't see that big of a difference, however, others have told me that they can be a pain when taking off or putting on the handguards. I am not planning to remove the hadguards all that often, if ever.

I thought that it may be a pain after I posted. I wonder also how they would work if I went with a YHM railed 2 piece handguard down the road. I assume the handguards fit the same.
