First off, I'm new here, so I'll say' "Hi" and hope I'm not posting something already discussed at length.

I have a unique problem with the AR.  I'm a lefty and an LEO. The trapdoor buttplate skids across my badge sometimes as I go thru various tactical drills and shooting positions.  I have a hard time getting a good seat into my chest with the stock.

I live in CT, so given the rather inane law this state passed (which mirrors Clinton's ban which had its sunset), I can't own a personal rifle with a telescoping stock.  They make a very nice rubber buttplate for those.  But, I'm stuck with the full stock.

I found the John Masen AR15 Recoil Pad for Trap Door Stocks (#1537).  So I bought two and outfitted my rifles.  About a week after doing so, one of the rifles lost the buttstock.  As I was shooting, the washer inside the pad gave way and caused the screw to pass through the pad.  Next thing I knew, I had a butt that was much longer than it should have been.  And I lost the detent spring for the rear take-down pin.  It wasn't fun.

So, now I'm a bit worried about the other rifle which is the one I use for most of my training schools and training sessions.

Anyone have a better buttpad.  Obviously, the recoil isn't an issue.  It's that skidding across the badge-thing that causes the problem.  I need something, probably in rubber.

Get a VLTOR full-length rifle stock, which takes their very nice rubber buttpad.  These are available in both A1 and A2 length.  See, for example:

Thanks, I'll check those out.  I was going to just get the "post-ban" carbine stock, but I just have this adversion to buying something that should be collaspible, but isn't.
