Hello all, I've got a problem with my m4. I've got a colt m4 w/ a m4a1 barrel + perm. attached Vortex F/H. I've got a knights ff ras that is installed. After talking w/ Knight's I believe the barrel nut has come lose as I'm getting play in the ras itself. I need to knock off the FSB so that I can move the ras forward and get a barrel wrench in there to re-tighten the barrel. I can't remove the ras all the way because of the f/h. I should be able to do this without needing to remove the permanately attached vortex, right? Has anyone encountered this problem? Could it have been caused by me torquing on the VFG? My hope is that I can tighten the barrell w/o needing to remove the perm. attached vortex. PS -- the service dept. at KAC rocks! A technition from the gun assy. dept spent 20min. helping me ID the problem and actually gave me his direct extention and asked to call back if I had any other questions! A+ Brendon |
| To torque the barrel nut you will have to remove the gas tube from the receiver. I did this once. Knock out the taper pins on the FSB and slide it and the gas tube forward until the gas tube is clear; then work on the barrel nut. I did it without removing the FSB completely. |
