I know the Colt Car stock bodies are marked with a N and a 1 but what if it just has the N. I just bought a Car stock body and it was never advertised as Colt but I was wondering since it has the N plus I saw an ad in the EE for a N marked Colt Stock. thanks guys/gals |

The earlier Colt Fiberite stocks had no markings. I don't think I have seen one with just the "N", and I have several marked with the "1" and the "N" combination. When you squeeze the release lever, the "N" is visible on the right side, towards the front. The "1" is equidistant and behind the release lever lock pin, and is visible when you pull down on the rear of the release lever. The "1" and "N" are not side by side and the "1" is about an inch to the rear of the stock from the "N". |
thank you, you just made my day. The N is exactly where you said but I never thought of pulling back on the lever to look for the 1 plus I didn't know where to look for it. My stock has both the N and 1 so it is a Colt and for $15 shipped I think I did alright. thanks |

Cool I just bought one of these also, it was advertised as just having the "1", with no mention of the "N". I found the "N" right away, but couldn't find the "1", until reading this post. Thanks. I didn't get as good of a deal, but it was still good. Now I just need a tube, any one know where I could get one for a decent price. |
I would just keep looking in the EE for one but if you want a new one I beleive it's Bravo Company that has CMT tubes for around $33 |
I have a WTB ad & look in there (EE) everyday, was just hoping someone that does'nt look in the WTB section had one & would chime in. You had any experience with the CMT products, are they quality parts? |
I have never owned any CMT parts but from what I hear they are one of the best. Thet make stuff for all the top manufactuers and is a big supplier to Colt |
My own experience w/a CMT tube is not so hot. Like you I wanted to use it w/a Colt N1 body I've had hanging around. Certainly the materials and dimensions are spot on, but when I put a light coat of CLP on it, the top finish started coming right off; leaving the black anodising underneath showing as the only finish. Immediately cleared the CLP, and just leave it dry, but the finish under the butt is wearing off every time I slide the stock. Eventually, I guess I'll get some Norrells and refinish the durn thing. ![]() |
