I ordered 2 Mega Gators a couple months back from Cold War Shooters and noticed that both of them have a little knick in the same areas.  It looks to be right where the stock attaches right where the threading ends.  I don't know if this is maybe from the manufacturing process?  Is that perhaps where they hang the part for anodizing?  Maybe I am being nitpicky...but it does bug me.

Front or back?  Any pics?

All 4 of mine are assembled so I can't see much of the threading but I don't remember seeing any nicks like that.

Isn't that going to be covered by the stock?  I will check mine when I get home.

Megas are probably one of the most consistently high quality receivers, but sometimes they do have small blems or odd machining/filing marks.  If you can't see it when it's assembled, it's not anything that should bother you.

+1

I've built rifles on 6 Meag lowers and only had trouble with one - an minor receiver extension thread problem that I was able to correct at home.  The rest were fine mechanically and all were above-average finish-wise.

Yeah I don't care if I can't see it once it's assembled...just wondering what others are seeing.  But yeah they are filing marks.  Maybe from the casting...the nubs had to be broken off and filed?

Well, they're forged receivers.  But it looks like they use some kind of tool to file with sometimes...  I've seen these file marks on a few different areas, most don't ever have them, so I haven't a clue what they're from.

Most other megas?  Or most other companies?

You are going to be hard pressed to find a better lower than a Mega.

I'm very, very pleased with my Mega. Hoping I don't have a problem finding another one.

I meant most other Megas.  My POF made by Mega does not have the marks that I'm talking about, and I've sold my Mega, so I can't really take any photos to show you.

POF is made by mega.  I ordered a 18" POF upper a couple weeks back.  Still waiting on it too come in.  It should be a slick setup.

I don't believe POF is made by Mega, though I do believe Mega makes some items for POF.  Mega is in no way the parent company, but like all AR15 companies, some outside work is always needed.

I don't know if Mega made receivers for POF in the past, but that is not the case now.  They are contracted out to another company and not built by POF.  At least that was the case a couple of months ago.

If you shoot your weapon, it will get beat up some.  Don't let little imperfections bother you.

As a dealer, you would be amazed at the returns we get back because of so called "imperfections".  They are usually from new shooters who aren't familiar with how AR really look initially and what they will look like if you actually shot it.

If you want a real opinion if something should be returned or not, take some good pictures of it and post it on the board to get some opinions from the shooters on the boards.

PS.  As far as MEGAs are concerned, they are one of the cleanest lowers/uppers you will ever see in the market place.  (It's just hard to get them)

POF's current receiver is made from billet, in-house I believe.  Their older receivers are made by Mega... If I still had my mega, I'd photo them side by side to show you the mill marks inside the FCG housing, inside the mag well, and in the grip tang area, as well as both having the same finish and same engraved fonts.  The older POF uppers are identical to Mega uppers and are engraved in the same place as well.

That would be very nice because the 18" upper is going to me mated to my existing Mega lower.

That's good.  The Mega upper/lower combo looks really sharp.

Oh, and Mega also makes Alexander Arms receivers

Does Mega have their own website?

BTW: the more I look at my Ameetec upper and lower receivers the more I like them. They're some mighty well finished AR parts!

My ar is built on a MEGA lower, and I LOVE it.  Won't  buy any other lower than a MEGA from now on.

Does the AA lower have the meat tenderizer Gator Grip?

for those who have mega lowers, and especially those who have the mega lower/upper fitted together, are you guys using any non-5.56 setups and what have you found to be best results?

i'm thinking of using my mega lower&upper into a 6.8spc..

I've run 6.8 and 5.56 with Mega. Any good receiver combo is a good combo.  I'm not sure what you are getting at.
