I don't know if I'd use the word, "sloppy" but yes, they have a small amount of take-up before you feel the trigger engage and finally break.  The break is extremely crisp.

I have one and really like it.

RRA doesn't do a real good job with their NM triggers. There are several people that can "tune" them and make them a decent trigger.

Get one from White Oak Armament. Tuned and ready to go.  Have one going for about 4 years with no probs.

On my Rock River 2-stage trigger, the 1st stage seems a bit mushy (squishy?), but the 2nd stage is nice and crisp.

The 1st stage is 2 lbs 4 ozs and the 2nd stage is 2 lbs 7 ozs, for a total pull weight of 4 lbs 11 ozs.

For the money, I do not think you can beat it.

If you really want a nice Rock River trigger, then I have to agree with what has been said before, get one that has been tuned by White Oak Armament
