On the 11.5 in barrel, does anyone know if the flash hider is threaded on?

Also, is the difference between range of the xm177e2 and an m4 with say a 16in barrel extreme? Colt claims the range is static between the two at 600 meters. 600 seems long for me with the short barrel of the xm guns.

Yes, the flash/noise suppressor of the XM177E2 is threaded, just like the rifles and M4 types.

Re the range, given the 3 inch longer barrel on the issue M4, I would expect the added velocity attained with M4 barrel to add about 100 meters to useable range.

The threads on the 177 are exactly the same as every other M16/AR15; 1/2inch fine thread. They will mount anything you can mount on an M16. M4. or AR15.
