I have 99% Sporter HBAR flat top, pre-ban rifle. I want an upper with a 16" mid-length or rifle-length free float forearm. Shlould I have this barrel turned down and shortened, or sell the upper and buy what I want, or sell the hole rifle? Pre-ban status really does not matter to me, as I live in Virginia.

Is it large or small pivot? The reason I ask is that the large pivot Colt flat tops are hard to come by, and you could probably get a premium out of your upper if it is.
