| I'm going to order a WOA FF tube and I read somewhere in the archives here that you have to cut off the bayonet lug. Can anyone tel me why? If I have to do that, then I'll probably order another FSH. ETA: This is for a CMP rifle, can anyone tell me if I should go ahead and order the handguards also? |

You do NOT have to remove the bayonet lug, whoever told you that is wrong. It is the front sling swivel that you have to remove. This is because it is replaced by the one on the float tube, which is the purpose of the float tube. Unless you have a Dremel tool and know how to modify your existing handguards, I would recommend you go ahead and order the handguards that are already modified. |

The sling swivel removal is easy. All it takes is a punch, hammer, hack saw and Dremel tool. Take the punch and pop out the rivet that holds the sling swivel. The swivel will fall away. Take the hacksaw and saw the "ears" off where the rivet went through. Get it close but then take the Dremel tool and grind flush with the bottom of the front sight housing. Take some cold blue or one of the Birchwood Casey black pens and put the finish back on. Takes about 5-10 minutes if you take your time. |
