Yes, sounds good, very good. Suggestions I would hope be taken seriously: 1. Make the selling price less than what we'd expect to pay for the sum total of the parts involved. 2. Please keep roll marks to a small and to a bare minimum as required by law. Avoid logos, please. 3. Offer 6.8mm SPC markings or preferably "Multi Caliber" markings. | It would be especially nice if you can set up your website so that someone can just click the options they want, kind of like the Gateway site when you're customizing a computer. Have the individual upgrade prices next to each item and a running total at the bottom. |

I got WES to have a complete LMT lower drop shipped to me... Had a SOPMOD/Cranes stock and LMT two-stage in it... WES can do some of this already... I've learned that WES can do almost anything with an AR-15/M-16 platform, all you need to do is ask and have a credit card ready! Spooky |

I believe that it would only be a nice option if the end user would see a price break....on the above or limit the options so that way their should be a savings....if not than what would be the advantage? Ant |
Don't forget the one stop shopping saving on shipping + taxes alone, any where from $5 to $30 per item if order seperately. Too many people say I bought item X from so & so for $X cheaper than anyone else, but fail to include all the costs in the overall cost. Depending on the final details and pricing, this sounds like a very good deal. Wes has outlined a pretty robust set of configurations to meet all budgets. |

THIS MAY SURPRISE A LOT OF FOLKS, BUT I DO UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU'RE COMING FROM. SEVERAL OF MY RIDES OVER THE YEARS I HAVE "DE-BADGED". THOSE I HAVE NOT ALTERED FROM STOCK I HAVE AT LEAST CONSIDERED DOING SO. REALISTICALLY, I DOUBT THAT DEMAND WOULD JUSTIFY LOWERS WITH DIFFERENT THAN STANDARD MARKINGS. CMT/Stag was my guess for your intended source. Personally, and I don’t think that I’m alone, I don’t really care for the deer logo. An MSTN logo would be preferred, but maybe quantity issues would prevent that. I don’t dislike the logo enough to keep me away from this purchase though.  What’s the time-frame on this Wes? |

Wes, Why not just get an FFL and build them yourself. It sounds like a logistical nightmare. Many of the parts options you list are likely to be on back-order from time to time. McCormick triggers for example. Also I can calculate the build cost depending on the complexity of the build and the time involved. Personally I don't really see the sense of having Stag do the builds. You metion 'factory built' is Stag going to warranty parts that they did not produce ? I just keep lowers in stock and build them to the customers spec. Of course I have an FFL so stocking lowers is not a problem Denny 07/02 Class 3 manufacturer. |
+1 That way the customer doesn't end up paying for a CMT stock and/or standard trigger group that he won't be using (base price plus upgrade price). |

A LOCAL FIRM BY THE NAME OF OLYMPIC OPTICAL HAS HANDLED ALL OF MY FFL NEEDS FOR SEVERAL YEARS. OLYMPIC OPTICAL IS A MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY THAT PROVIDES SAFETY EQUIPMENT WORLDWIDE, TO INCLUDE MOST POPULAR BRANDS OF SAFETY AND SHOOTING GLASSES OUT THERE. IF IT SAYS REMINGTON, SMITH AND WESSON, ETC., ON IT, THEY MAKE IT. THE OWNER IS A GUN GUY AND M.S.T.N. IS HIS GO-TO PLACE. WE LOOK AFTER HIM, AND HE LOOKS AFTER US. IT JUST SEEMS SIMPLER FOR THE LOWER TO MAKE ONE TRIP ON A BROWN TRUCK THAN TWO. ONE LESS LOG-IN, LOG-OUT, IN THE BOOKS, TOO. THIS ENDS UP SAVING THE CUSTOMER MONEY. One wrench in the works on assembly of a Stag and a MagPul: Stag lowers are machined in the buffer tube area a little tighter than the Colt spec, so that standard buttstock buffer extensions are "tight" to the customer. The MagPul buffer tube is threaded to be "tight" in the original Colt spec. Put the two together and you have something too tight to get much more than 3 turns in before it siezes up. Ask Rich at MagPul, he'll tell ya, as apparently he deals with this all the time from customers. It requires that you run a tap through the Stag lower AND a tap over the MagPul tube. Pain in the ass, as it requires about $120 in extra tools and removes the hard coat annodizing from the tube and the lower in the threads. Tom

I guess I am just dense. I don't see the savings here. You still have to ship the parts to Stag and pay Stag to assemble the lower. Then they ship the lower to the dealer. I really don't see the customer saving any significant amount of money. I generally order lowers 50 at a time so shipping in minimal, around .50 cents each. I have the parts in stock. I assemble the upper or lower so I absolutely have control over what goes out to the customer. I charge less for parts used in the build because there is no double shipping involved. I guess the main concern I would have with this arrangement is getting each order right and getting the right parts to Stag for each build. How would you handle out of stock parts? etc. Denny |

KEEPING COMPONENTS IN STOCK IS NO DIFFERENT FOR ME THAN FOR YOU. IF THE MANUFACTURER HAS THEM. WE BUY A REASONABLE SUPPLY. WHEN SUPPLY ON HAND REACHES A CERTAIN POINT, WE ORDER MORE. SOMETIMES OUR TIMING IS GOOD; SOMETIMES IT IS NOT. BUT WHEN THE MANUFACTURER IS SIMPLY OUT, WE HAVE TO WAIT, AND SO DO OUR CUSTOMERS. ALSO, THE CUSTOMER FITS INTO THE EQUATION. IF THEY DON'T WANT IT, THEY DON'T BUY IT. SO, WHY DON'T WE JUST LET THE MARKETPLACE DECIDE? DENNY, THE MANAGEMENT AT STAG ARMS AND I SEEM TO THINK WE CAN MAKE THIS WORK OUT JUST FINE. Wes I hear ya on the timing thing. It seems in todays market parts that are readily available one day are weeks out the next. I re-order, as I am sure you do, when stocking levels are still comfortable, but on some stuff that is not soon enough. Also with some manufacturers I order 50 or 100 pieces are receive 10. Wes, I'm just trying to add some insight here to maybe make your endeavor a little better. I could purchase a stripped Stag lower ($85), Stag LPK ($64), KAC two-stage ($300), and LMT Crane stock ($263) and have the complete lower built for $712, not counting the the transfer fee or shipping. The same lower according to your pricing would cost $749 not including transfer fee or shipping. If I ordered the parts from Denny, it's only like a buck for shipping. And lets face it, building a lower is child's play. The only useful tools to build one is either a hammer and a nail or a pair of channel locks. Either way, I'm paying for a standard trigger that I'm not using, but your way I'm also paying for a stock that I won't be using (the standard M4 type that is included in the base price). Would the standard trigger and standard stock that I'm paying extra for even be included with my lower? |

NO, THEY WOULD NOT. THE TRADE-OFF FOR DOING THE ONE-OFF INSTALLATIONS FOR STAG IS THEY GET TO KEEP THE PARTS THEY DON'T USE. THIS IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY, I FEEL, TO GO TO SO MUCH TROUBLE. OF COURSE, YOU MAY NOT FEEL THAT WAY, SINCE YOU HAVE APPARENTLY MASTERED THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS YOURSELF AND PROBABLY ENJOY IT. STILL, I AM CONFIDENT THAT OTHERS WILL FIND THE CUSTOM LOWER OFFER TO HAVE APPEAL. WES |
