Since we got the Recce/Recon thread up 7 pages, why not show off our SAM-R builds...

I'll start with mine that just got finished:

Upper:
20" SS Fluted Krieger 1/7" twist barrel with a matching bolt (Crane O-ring installed)
LMT Upper
LMT Bolt Carrier
LaRue 13.2 Rail
LaRue Gas Block
LaRue Bipod Adapter
Harris Bipod
LaRue SPR Mount
Leupy 3x9 (MK4 on the way)
SE Vortex FH KAC QD

I can't wait to take it to the range to break it in and see what it can do.  After that, it's getting parted out for a KAC upgrade... Stay tuned...

I already swaped the Vortex for the KAC...

Front sight is the next hurdle to overcome...

Now if I could only find my Dremel...

Seriously, I do want to shoot it at least once in this configuration... If not, the LaRue boys will be out to lynch me...

I’d really like to build one some day, need to start saving my spare change to get me one of those KMC front sight/gas blocks though, that’ll be the hardest part of the entire build to come up with. Until then, I’ll have to be content with collecting pics.

Just a thought . . . .?
have ADCO install a GGG front flip up, its very similar in form and function.
(pictured in post located above)

Thank you.
Its just that easy. All you have to do is call GG&G, and order the sight.  They'll get it to you eventually.

Leupold MR/T 3-9X36mm illuminated.  IIRC, it was specifically developed with an eye relief that would allow it to be mounted on an M16A4 receiver.  I'm not sure of the model number, though.

The Marines are using the Leupold TS-30; the Leupold civilian version of the scope is their MR/T 3-9 x 36 illuminated, just like mongo mentioned.

Whats the diff between a SAM-R and a SPR?

Whats the diff between a SAM-R and a SPR?

Barrel length - SPR is 18", SAM-R/DMR is 20

Barrel profile - SPR is lighter, SAM-R/DMR is a heavy profile with fluted under the handguards

Float tube - SPR uses KAC or PRI, depending on Mod, SAM-R uses KAC/DMR grnerally uses DD

Different muzzle devices

Different BUIS preferences

One smaller correction

SPR is a .820'ish Profile - while the SAM-R and DMR are FULL DCM Service Rifle Profile - DMR is fluted SAM-R is not (MARINES can carry the weight )

Why trap yourself with a full length stock? They are worthless.  (or i guess worthless to anyone who has body armor or wants to be able to operate in an urban environment.)
