Can anyone give me any feedback on the Badger Tactical Latches?  How is the quality, ease of installation?  Are there any other brands I should consider?

Thanks,
Mark

I've got them on my carbines and on a spare charging handle.  Marty Bordsen and Badger are great.  Not everybody is into them, however.

I would like to get one but I have heard they get hung up sometimes on other gear.

Has it ever happened to you guys.

My personal opinion is they are awful...when used with a 3-point or single-point sling they tend to dig into my chest and belly...ouch...not to mention the earlier stated opportunity for them to get hung up on other gear...

I think a better solution is the PRI "big latch" - still provides one hand operation but does not protrude any more than the regular latch...

The 2nd gen badger latch will NOT hang up on gear.

I'm not familiar w/ the 2nd gen badger latch...links?

My statement above was apparently aimed at the original incarnation...

I have both the 1st and 2nd Gen badger latch.  I like the 2nd Gen latch better.

The Gen. 1's and any latch that sticks out far away from the upper will change the pull angle and rapidly increase wear on the notch in the upper, eventually ruining the upper.  Trust me.

how many dollars and how much shipping would you like to pay me for my gen1 badger latches.???

I've got a Gen1 that can go to a new home...

Denny sold me a Gen2 and it's very very nice.  It's really not much bigger than the stock latch, but does provide a larger flatter surface to 'grab'.

very very nice.

Yep - during a carbine course - that sucker only lasted till the first break when I could swap out the charging handle from my backup rifle.

The hanging up wasn't the worse part (not much to hang up on other than the 3pt sling).  It was the digging into my chest that annoyed me the most.

Personally for 'tactical latches' I much prefer the PRI unit.

I agree with Forest. If you have a scope or other stuff on top that interferes with the charging handle, they may be okay. But if you're going to use your rifle, sling it, run with it, etc., then you will get jabbed by it, and it will hang up on stuff. The only one I've seen so far that doesn't hang up is the PRI big latch.

I will gladly pay $5 each plus shipping as long as they are in good condition.

pri big latch...... got two of them.
pri did it right the first time around . imho
pri big latch very nice. definetly hangs up less than the 1st gen. badger, gen 2 no experience with'em at all.
