Just took my Colt Sporter to the local gun shop to have a tele-stock installed.  I'm not much of a
"hands on" guy and I figured if it needed to be put in a vice, special tools, etc. that I'd leave it to them.  When I got home, the box with my original parts was missing the buffer tube that screws onto the receiver he

The buffer tube is NOT serial numbered. Only the lower receiver is serial numbered, nothing else.

I'd be pissed too, and hope you get it back.  But don't worry too much about it, an A1 fixed stock receiver extension isn't expensive at all to replace.   If you ever have to put it back to original to sell, they are totally unmarked and pretty much impossible to even tell a genuine Colt from a no-name brand.     People pay top-dollar for a Colt barrel, Colt upper or lower, Colt bolts & carriers- but no one pays a penny more for a fixed stock tube.

I just check my new Bushmaster catalog. Bushie's price is $19.95.

Not a lot of money, but damnit, they kept a $20 part. Personally I'd raise hell if I had to to get it back.

Went back to the gun shop today.  Turns out the guy who did the work left the buffer tube on the work bench.
