i'm hopefully getting a RRA stripped lower 12-25-04 i plan on using a RRA LPK.  i had planned on gettin the chrome lined M4 kit from M1 and just saving their LPK for spares (that's what i tell the missus while planning my next build).  the problem is - my bud just picked up a frankenrifle that has mid-length hand guards and i really dig the way they look.

i want an M4 profile (preferably w/M4 FR's), chromelined, 1:9,  16" w/o the FS, mid-length HG's  what should i go with.

thanx.

I can't picture how what you want would look, but I'm thinking that a midlength barrel with an M4 cutout wouldn't work, due to gas block spacing.  Maybe it will, I don't know.  I know that I have never seen a midlength barrel with an M4 cutout.

Skip the M1S kit. If you want M4 FR, I suggest an LMT upper from MSTN. It will be an LMT upper, M4 barrel with FR, in 1/7. If you want the FR you should go 1/7 anyway. You can shave the FSB down or even better, replace it with an SPR gas block. Then you can add any 9" mid length FF rail you want. LaRue is very hot right now, but they can be hard to find. You will need to buy a bolt carrier group, but MSTN will give you a charging handle. You will also need a stock with buffer and spring, but they can be had cheap in the EE. If you go with the M1S set up, you will have a copy, but an LMT upper will be the real deal.
I am looking at doing the same exact thing for my X-mas present to me. I was going to use the Samson MRFS 9" or 10" rails. They are only $200 shipped right now. If I can get the cash, that is what I will get.
