Looked at a BM M4 today and have pretty much settled on this weapon.

Would also like the Aimpoint glass.

Any other suggestions you guys might  as far as this setup?? What about mounts for the Aimpoint.

I'm strickly a bolt gun guy  fellas, and very new to this AR world....

TIA......

Good optics

LaRue Aimpoint Mount and some kind of Back-Up-Iron-Sight (BUIS) like the ARMS#40

Welcome to the addiction.  Get your credit card ready...

Some of the more popular Aimpoint mounts:
ARMS#22M68 with a cantilever or straight spacer
GG&G cantilever mount
KAC offset mount
La Rue aimpoint mount
PRI Aimpoint mount

Don't forget your backup iron sights (BUIS):
ARMS #40
GG&G (they make several models)
La Rue
LMT

Just do a search in the Optics and Mounts forum and you'll get more info than you ever wanted.
Good luck!

Good choice cheap.

I really like the ARMS 22M68 mount with the ARMS cantelever spacer for the Aimpoint.  The holographic sights like that tend to perform better when they are mounted as far forward on the reciever as possible.

Enjoy.

Just wondering which BM M4 you were talking about.  The mini-Y-comp M4?  If not I'm in the market for a good BM M4, someone on here suggested don't get the mini-Y-comp.

You can have your local FFL order it through BM.

Or.............................you can wait a month and a half and get the real Phantom FH.

If you can't wait 'til mid-September, GET THE IZZY BRAKE!!!

And put your Aimpoint in a LaRue mount.  (See sig line)

if you look at BM website they don't have it listed on a complete gun

but they do have it on a complete upper.

www.bushmaster.com/shopping/uppers/post-ban/Default.asp

just have ur ffl dealer order the m4 and have BM put the izzy on it

Friends, I was refering to the Y Comp, I guess out of ignorance.

For my sake, why not get the Y Comp?? Noise??
7/29/2004 3:17:17 PM EDT
[#14]
All the comps are noisy and the mini-Y is really blast producing.  The izzy is your best bet.  As for the Aimpoint mount, I can't say enough good things about La Rue.  I get my stuff from C4iGrant

Why not wait until the ban goes away in September so you can get whatever muzzle attachemnt you want be it a  flash suppressor or muzzle brake.  After the ban you won't have to have it welded either if you have a barrel that is 16" or longer.

Good idea. I just need to get ahold of a AR to get some trigger time before my Sept. Want to go to Blackwater in Sept. for classes....Thanks to all. Great site.

For your class at Blackwater, you are going to appreciate the Mini Y.  It's really good at keeping the muzzle down and on target for follow up shots.  Aesthetic, I'd go with the Izzy brake.  It looks like the Phantom flash hider but is BATFE legal.  Unfortunately I haven't shot the Izzy brake so I'm not sure how much better/worse it is than the Mini Y.

Just my 2 cents worth... I shot next to a guy today that had the Mini-Y comp on his 20" BM HBAR, man,  it was loud!  I've read on these forums where others have said it was loud but never had any first hand exposure to one until today.  Well, they are right, it's loud when your in the next station shooting. (and a few down!.)  I have a BM 16" HBAR post ban with nothing on the end of the barrel .  I really don't see the need for a muzzle brake on a .223.  Esp. a semi-automatic.  YMMV.   Whatever you go with, enjoy it and put the trigger time in.  That's what it's all about!

The Aimpoint is mounted in an ARMS #22M68 with a cantilever spacer.
Rear sight is a cut carry handle, and the light is an Streamlight M3 mounted directly to a Daniel Defense 7.0 M4Rail.
Magpul XT panels are on the side rails, along with a KAC QD sling mount.
Vertical foregrip and pistol grip are Tango Down, and telestock is a Magpul MSS.

I know all this because that's the only pic Troy ever posts, and I've seen it a few hundred times now.

j/k Troy.

Actually, I had a pair of uppers sent to Kurt for work, and I wasn't real clear on my instructions, and as a result, Kurt chopped the bayo lug off of both uppers.  But, actually, it's not that big a deal, since I don't anticipate mounting a bayonet on it anyway.

Gotcha.  Those poor bayo lugs never hurt anyone and will be sorely missed.

Ban gunsmiths.  Do it for the children.
