Is there any work that can be done on a stock ar trigger to make it better than the POS it is? I'm trying to avoid having to drop another hundred bucks on a RRA two stage. That stock trigger is soooo bad. George |

Check out this link: 15 Minute Trigger Job I'm planning to do this on a new lower tonight. I'll report back on my findings... |

I should also note that I ordered two JP Enterprises reduced power trigger and hammer spring kits from Brownells. I'm expecting the springs tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to compare the new springs with the ones I'm going to modify tonight. JP Enterprises Reduced Power Spring Kit |
Thanks for the link. I just ordered the same springs. We'll see how they work out. George |

Just a quick not to anyone who's interested: I performed the 15-minute trigger job on one of my ARs (see the above link), and indeed, the change in the feel of the trigger improved markedly. All is not well, however. I went to the range this morning to test the new trigger work and found that where I had no troubles before, I'm now getting 5-10 mis-fires per 30-round mag. I was shooting WWB (made in Israel), and while the primers on the failed rounds were indeed dimpled, they still refused to fire. Maybe it's a problem with the WWB stuff? Anyway, my new JP reduced power spring kits arrived in the mail this afternoon. I'll try the new springs and see if they clear up the problem. If not, I'll probably be looking into a RRA 2-stage kit. Any thoughts? |
| Sure Sponge. I have been thru improving triggers over the years and it is tedious. Two jobs done for me were easy to pay for and were well worth every penny. They were done by an experianced smith. One done by Bill Gillette and another by Williams Trigger Specialties. Williams Trigger has a web site for referral. Far better than anything you can buy, send it to him and recieve it done. |
Those JP springs are excellent. I run a set in one of my rifles and they make a big difference: |
