Does anyone make a rail system of good quality that is the same size as the regular handguards) (not the M4 handguards)?

If not. Are the Surefire Rail Forends smaller than the KAC and M4 handguards?

Thanks

Not absolutely sure, but the Daniel Defense rail systems are the thinnest you can get.  Haven't had a Surefire or GG&G in my hand, but I am betting they are thicker than the DDs.

I agree.  My DD tubes feel more like the M4 handguards than any other railed tubes I've tried.

No, because one of the goals is for the top rail to be at the same height as the flattop, because BUIS and optics count on this height being correct.  Also, you have to have room for a low-profile gas block to fit under the handguard, as many people are using FF handguards in this configuration.

The DD handguards are the way to go.  Super-light, 100% in-spec rails, superb barrel cooling, and narrow profile.
