How many of you have a lower for every upper?
2/18/2004 9:20:13 PM EDT
[#1]
I do.
2/18/2004 10:23:01 PM EDT
[#2]
Not anymore.

I was just wondering how many of you are using one lower with several uppers.I have a habit of putting together an upper and the buying a complete preban and then having to sell the upper that came on it.

AR15 Rule # one
Never under any circumstance sell your AR15 parts or other AR15 items.

Rule two
Don't break rule one.

I would need a bigger house if I didn't. My rule is "never sell a lower"

Lots of people here have tried the "one lower with multiple uppers" direction, but then you'll want to try different furniture or other accessories, and then the dis-assembly to change, and then you'll want to take more than one rig out at a time, or a buddy will want to shoot with you...........

It never works out, you need "a lower for every upper" [:D]

"A lower with many uppers"

...is merely the first step towards "many rifles".

Shit!

After my transaction on the EE this morning, I have a lower in need of an upper.

Bastages!

Yep.... it's just a first step.... I think I actually have more lowers than I do uppers right now.

The only "extra" uppers I have are 20" HBAR takeoffs [:)].  Everything else has a mate.

While in the past all my uppers have had lowers, I'm thinking of having two uppers for one on my lowers I presently have a 14.5" Colt upper with a SIRS M58MOD and the MagPul M93 stock. I figure when the M95 stock becomes available on obtaining a long range upper and putting the whole thing in a Starlight Case. But......new uppers seem to spawn new lowers.

well, right now I have an extra upper lying around here after recieving a new carbine upper from bsbg.

However, I am thinking of turning that remaining upper into a few projects. thinking along the lines of using the upper reciever for an SP1 project and the barrel for a Midlength/SPR project.

I have already come to accept the fact that eventually I will have to buy lowers to mate with the upper projects, and this all of course means I will need much more money.

I need a higher paying job.

I'm just the opposite.  I have 5 complete lowers and only 3 uppers.  Hmmm... might need to check the EE out.

I always purchase lowers first-than plot on which upper I'd like to attach.

I like complete rifles.  For some reason though I usualy build the lower first.  Then I have an excuse to buy an upper.

I actually without either right now...so I've got big problems.

Well, the stupid thing is that, while it can be said that with two uppers and one lower, its like having two guns, its not.  Its more like having a gun and a half for 90% of the price of having two actual guns, which makes it just more efficient to have two uppers and two lowers.  Also, consider that if you have a "varmint" upper, wouldn't you want a nice match trigger lower to go with it, while the CQB upper goes on a lower with mil-spec FCG and (hopefully) a collapsable stock?

New stripped lower. (Hell, they are cheap, right? And you never know when some anti gun natzi will start some.....)
That leads to lower parts kits...and  maybe a fancy trigger......
And have you seen those really cool stocks?
Gotta try one of those!
And a midlength...hmmm
yea,
ONE lower and a couple uppers......
I think thats kinda like
"OK,I'll stop in with ya ,but I only have time to drink one." ;-)

I have 2 pre-ban lowers and 4 uppers (M4, M16A1, M16A2, Dissipator).  The number of lowers will double if the Crime Bill of 1994 sunsets, I have all the other parts needed.

Right now I have one more upper than lower.  I'm going to buy one more complete RRA lower minus the butt stock and about four more stripped ones for a rainy day.

I have LOTz more uppers than lowers...Actually..I probably need to start look'n for some good deals on some lowers...

Well, guys with M16 rifles will definitely have more uppers than lowers.
