Does anyone have an M4 RAS mounted on a Colt Commando? Any reason it would not fit.

It will fit, the only variable is barrel OD and I have mounted these on Model 1 sales 11.5's and those have big fat .920in barrels (.820 right behind the handguard cap.)

The Colt has a pencil barrel, it will be a shoe in fit.

Thanks, that's just what I needed to know.

The RAS will not be able to fit the pencil barrel. The RIS will work, a FFRAS will work, but the RAS will not work with the pencil barrels.

The RAS is made to fit barels that are .835-.855 inch diameter in the area just behind the front sight tower.  If the barrel is thinner than that, you will need the RIS or one of the free floating models.

You can always go with a 4-rail float like a Yankee Hill or Oly.  I also have used an ARMS 51 SIR on one of my Commando uppers.  Looks wicked!

I understand there is a pad there to fit the barrel, but I don't see why the lower handguard wouldn't hold that in place?  Basically the lower and upper handguards are really wedged into the handguard cap anyway, so where the hell is it going to go?

Maybe you should ask MSTN (he uses Colt pencil barrels once and a while.)
