So I just got my M4 RAS mounted this weekend.  Now I've noticed pics of people's rifles where they have a cover on the top rail.  How are they doing this?  The only way I can see is if you put the cover on before you install the RAS - but then you can't tighten down the clamp (at least if you are using an 11 rib panel).  Any ideas?

They probably hall have flat top upper receivers, I did this once by sliding it all the way from the charging handle to the RAS top.  I suggest you leave it uncovered, it's a pain to slide it on or off, as the rails on the RAS and the receiver don't always line up perfectly, as minute as it is, covering it with covers does have some heat dissipation issues (so I hear).

Ya either mount it BEFORE or from the charging handle.  That is why the snap on covers have some popularity.
