I like my A1 fixed stock but was wonderng if there was something out there that was lighter, but still durable.  My carbine is basically a SHTF gun, but I take it to classes and would like to shave off some weight without sacrificaing strength.  I was considering a single point sling, but don't want to add to the overall lenght with an adaptor plate.  Does anyone make a fixed stock (or one which can be ordered) with an OAL slightly shorter than the A1?

Suggestion and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The ACE Skeleton stock is the same size as an A1 stock, AND has a single point sling attachment already on the stock (just bejind the reciever.

You could also contact Magpul and have Rich send you an M93A that has been 'fixed' to A1 length.

Another option for 'slightly shorter' than an A1 is a Sully stock or an RRA Stubby stock.

The Sully is approximately 8 1/8", the Stubby is 7 1/4".  1" spacers and 1" buttplates are available for the Stubby and a 1" buttplate is available for the Sully.

A plus to the Stubby is you can add a single point sling and/or a 1" buttplate to fine tune the fit.  I'm using the Stubby stocks with Daniel Defense Burnsed Loops and standard A2 buttplates, OAL just over 7 1/2"...

Cav Arms makes an A1 stock that is a bit lighter than the original Military ones.

What you could do is this:
1) RRA or Bushy Stubby Stock
2) KAC 1" stock spacer
3) A2 buttplate.

The KAC 1" spacer (goes between the stock & lower receiver) has a swivel point for a Single Point Sling.  The A2 buttplate allows you to store stuff (like an OTIS cleaning kit) in the stocck.  Overall Length is about 8.5" (little more than an inch shorter than your A1 stock).
