Can someone help me and explain the main differences in the following two Bushmaster rifles?  1)Bushmaster Varminter Part #PCWVMS24FVAR9  2)Bushmaster Varmit Special Part #PCWVMS24-9SS  The web descriptions are very similar.  I am interested in hearing opinions on these rifles as well.  Technical opinions as well as "for the buck" opinions.  Please help.

There are really only two differences that I am aware of. The big one is the barrel.  The Varminter has a fluted extra heavy 4150 chrome moly vanadium steel barrel with the black finish and 11 degree target crown, and the Varmint Special comes with the stainless target barrel.
The second difference is the grip.  The Varminter comes with the hogue rubberized grip, and the Varmint Special comes with the H&K PSG-1-style target grip.
Otherwise, both have 24" barrels, Bushy's comp trigger, the mini scope risers, and the same free floating forend.  FYI, the Varmint Special is almost 1/2lb heavier because of the heavy stainless barrel (8.4lbs vs. 8.84lbs).
I was considering one of the two and decided on the Varminter.  I did't care for the stainless barrel (too flashy for me) and although I preferred the PSG-1-styel grip, that could very easily be added to the Varminter later.
