This item was discussed a while back, with no items actually delivered to the civilian market from GG&G at the time.  Has anyone recieved one yet?  If so, I would be interested in the actual weight of a carbine length model and also what you think of it overall.

Thanks, Harry

Harry, I'm very interested in this as well.  I asked about it, and got a brief response on here.  I'm old and have forgotten what was said.  I recently emailed GG&G about this but got no response.  Though when you get 400 spam emails a day it is easy to miss something on the cull.

Bump this to the top.

I ordered one in mid July, was told it would be
from the second run and delivered around the end of August.  Still have not received it, nor have I heard of anybody that has received one.  After reading the tacked post at the top, if the GGG really does weigh 2.2 lbs I don't think I really want them to ship it.  Hopefully the delay is a result of them drastically trimming the weight

Sounds more like they're waiting for enough pre-orders to actually start producing them past the prototype.  They advertise like mad about the system but I have yet to see anyone military, LE or civilian with one.

I called them about a month ago and was told they were getting a large batch made some time in December, I forget what week he said. I informed him of WJSharks' story, he said all back orders would be filled first. So I don't know, you may be getting yours. I think I will go with rail for my M4.

So, any updates on this system?
Anyone have one yet?

[red]Edited to add:  Whoops this is for the Surefire not the GG&G unit - still it's an excellent review[/red]

TNRonin did an excellent review of it:

That review is for the Surefire unit.
Too many rail choices out there, I know.

Darn you're right!  Too many choices, it's scrambling my brain!

My understanding is they have sold a large quantity to USAF PJ's. They quite possibly are concentrating on that delivery. I have seen the unit, and am impressed with several features. It is a quality system. All these choices are the upside of capitalism.

Nixon and I talked about an hour about this, among other things.  He called about this system and I called about the system.  He got the final skinny on it IMHO.  The total cost would be in the $300 range for this system.  Now GG&G told me 18oz, (wink), but I suspect that is not the full blown rail system weight.  I just had my FFL faxed to them so I can get a pricing structure.

It is looking like this one will be like the rest in pricing.  HTH

That is more than what they advertised, I think it was at $225 or $230.Maybe the hike is because some military unit is using it and they figure some civvie will buy it just for this fact, a way to squeeze a few extra dollars out of some Joe's pocket. Well this Joe ain't goin' for it. The price is what made me want to go with with this unit but for $300 I might as well throw in another $50 and get a S.I.R.! I hope you are wrong on the price but if not then I'll be getting an A.R.M.S. for my M4.

I got mine the other day. Took a while, but was well worth the wait. I weighted it with all the rails and extra rails they give you. 17.2 oz. retail was $235.00

I played with one last night.  I would say without all of the extra rails, it would probably weight a pound or maybe a bit less.

1919a4guy,

We need a review with pictures!

The $300 price is to outfit it with all the rails to make it into a standard 4 rail config.  Priced as is, it does not have all the rails that a traditional system has.  HTH

Here was a short review with pictures that was posted about a week ago, unfortunately the pictures are now gone.  Maybe someone could repost them.

Edited to add a link to GG&G's website that gives a pretty good rundown on the handguard.
http://www.gggaz.com/products/tmfff.php

It seems that the advantages with this handguard when compared to others currently on the market it that it gives you a continuous top rail like the URX, is as easy to install as a SIR-M, and allows for rails to be mounted at 2, 4, 8, and 10 o'clock, as well as at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock as on other handguards.  Disadvantages would be weight, a lot of screws, and the handguard panels would not be as easy to install and remove as KAC panels.

Does $235 get you full length rails in 6,9,12 and 3 o'clock position? If so then I will still be in for one.

BTW pics are down!

GG&G have additional rails available as an option.  A 12 & 6 o'clock full length rail is $27 and $16 for a half length.  The 3 & 9 o'clock rails are availavable only in half length and are $16.  Last week I ordered a 12 & 6 o'clock full lentgth rail.  Maybe you can order it with rails only.
