You can buy a new flat top reciver for $90 and switch them out.  It is not complicated, but does require a few tools.

That's how the original concept came to be, gunsmiths milled them down and installed weaver bases.  Then someone decided to make it easier- Flattop upper.  Buy one it is simple and you don't have to be a machinist to do it right.

Yeah I looked into this as well as I had an extra A-2 upper and though hey it would be a cheap way to get a flat top. After checking around it was no savings at all unless you are a machinist and have your own mill. Just buy a flat top, you will be happier with the results.

That is the same situation that I am in, I have an extra A2 upper and was trying to decide what to do with it.  Any suggestions?

This was my first Bushy (Vmatch 20).  This is how they came- from the factory!
