You guys are costing me money.  I had not bought an AR since the late 80's.  The last one I bought was a Colt 6601.  After joining this board and reading all the things you guys are doing with ARs...I had to get a new one.  I ordered the BM Superlight Carbine with the Stubby Stock.  By your standards, I was a little light in the mag inventory-just got Ryne to send me 15 of his CI 30 rounders.  If anyone has the BM Superlight let me know what you think of it.  With that super thin barrel, I bet I can get it to glow in the dark with 40 rounds rapid fire.....

The "superlight" barrel is the same profile that was used on all military M16s until the mid/late 80s, and is still used on rifles currently deployed in Iraq.  Sure, it heats up faster than an A2 or HBAR, but you won't have a glowing barrel after 40 rounds, full-auto or not.

Thanks Troy,

So the barrel is about the same as the old A1s that I had in BITS & AIT in 1970, w/o the birdcage and several inches shorter.

Just spent the weekend shooting my Superlight. No failures of any kind with South African surplus. Maybe 300 rounds downrange total. It started to rain, but the barrel stayed dry.

The only modification was to remove the heatshield from the top handguard to improve air flow.
