I was wondering what Kit to use for my first build up? I would like a 16" Car w/ a stubby stock. Can anyone recomend a kit? I looked at Model 1's web site already. i have heard about JT, any information? Basically, what I want is a kit that has everything in it, a resonable price, and one that is resonably simple to put togather. I want this as a plinker/fun gun, I really do not need a very accurate weapon. Say, being able to hit man sized targets at 300 yds. I think that any AR that I build will be able to produce that, no matter how sloppy the action would be. Thanks for any info provided.

I recently bought two kits from M-A.  Had extra pieces in both lower parts kits.  Went together easily, very nice finish.  Some of their upgrade items are lower priced than Model1, and JT.  I would definitely buy from them again!

As a newcomer to the AR scene, I relied heavily on the input from members of this site for recommendations on vendors of 'kits', and outlets for lowers to commence my first build. After reviewing as many threads as I could find on these subjects, I ordered an EA lower from Quantico, and a 16" CAR kit from J&T (flat-top upper w/detachable carry handle.). The only difference in configuration from your prospective set-up, I opted for the A-2 stock.
I will do business with both these companies again. They were very responsive, and with the exception of some issues J&T had with the Q.C. of some contract components that delayed kit assembly, both orders arrived as promised. I was truly impressed with the quality of the J&T kit. The finish was flawless, and everything went together perfectly. During warm-up, with some UMC ammo, I was punching 1.5" groups at 50 yds. with the stock iron sights from a very poor rest. I am no expert rifleman by any means, so I was thrilled with the initial performance of the rig. No FTF or FTE with three different types of ammo from 30 rd. mags. The only thing I had to do was torque the buttplate/buffer tube screw as it worked loose over the few rounds I put through it. A little Loc-Tite fixed that. I have no experience with the other kit distributors listed here, but the overwhelming majority of folks posting responses to questions of quality, service, and value in 'kit' gun distributors indicated to me that J&T was, and is "Top Dog". I now agree.
