I am wanting to put a vertical grip/M900 flashlight on the lower part of my M4 Handguard. I took the handguards off & noticed that the heat shields are permanitely attached with glue, so that puts the GG&G UFIr out of the question....So that leads me to my question, what is the easiest/best handguard to replace mine with? Are the Knights the best? Are they a drop in part? Which one is the best? Any help would be appreciated.. |

I had attached a GG&G UFIR to Colt M4 handguards without removing the heat shields at all. Besides the fact that the UFIR screwholes didn't line up with the handguard ventholes as they needed to, it wasn't too difficult to figure out how to get the retaining nuts where they needed to go. It was a marginal solution compared to a true rail system, which I ended up getting to mount my grip and light. Chris |

I'd go with the ARMS #50 slim line SIR -C. It drops on with ease and in fact easier that wrestling with the oversize M4 hand guards. It's the most modular far what ever you want to mount, plus multible sling swivel set ups and rails you can remove if not needed and no covers required. Good shootin, Jack |

SIR would be OK if the higher rail on the flattop isn't an issue. I get the impression the RAS is an improvement over the RIS because it mounts more rigidly. The reason the SEALs use the RIS is because they had a non-standard barrel diameter that the RAS wouldn't work with. Would the raild HGs (Fobus?) be good enough? |

If you're not looking to free float the barrel or mount any optics on the top, the Fobus handguards are actually pretty nice. They mount just like normal handguards, so they're easy, but that also means they will move slightly. I bought a slimline SIR (46) for my M4, they're just too neat! |
