Thinking of buying a new upper for my DCM rifle.  Not sure what my old one is...1x8 SS of course...it is still very accurate but has fired a few thousand rds so I am considering a new one.

Anyway, what is the current thought on what to get, and who has the best prices?  I found a DPMS for $489 plus postage.  That sounds good, but I have never bought anything from them.  Would the RRA be better?  If so, who has the best price?

Thanks for any help.

Get the Rock River, it is far better than the DPMS. I have seen the RR is low as $540 at sableco.net.

Why is the RRA better?

I have a DPMS DCM rifle - I have been very impressed with it, as it shoot quite well.
I have barrels that cost as much as the complete upper that don't ahoot much better...

The RR float tube is much better and stouter than the DPMS. The RR comes with a Wylde chamber which is a better than the DPMS chamber. Most AR smiths who work with all of the DCM/CMP uppers will also tell you that DPMS quality varies too much whereas RR is about the best out there especially for the money.

Have both uppers and they both are pretty close in accuracy, fit, & finish.  I cannot distinguish any big differences between the two.  Only the guy putting the holes in the target seem to make the difference.

My friend, you are sharing a lot of hype without a lot of facts.

The DPMS FF tube is stout enough that I cannot bend it... How strong does it have to be to do the job?  :-)

For competition the .223 chamber is better tighter than the Wylde chamber.  Not that RRA is bad, but a tighter chamber is a key for better accuracy.

DPMS quality varies too much?  Not in my expierence.  Both DPMS and RRA make great guns.

For DCM, I would go with the DPMS for the reasons explained above.

I am spouting no more hype than you.

Ask John Holliger at White Oak Precision about DPMS uppers as compared to Rock River.

Also, go see how many DPMS uppers are on the highpower firing line, not many.

I am just as entitled to my opinion as you are to yours. Personally, I think RR is a better product at a competitive price. If you believe otherwise, more power to you.
