Who makes the best ambidextrous selector switch out there? I know there are a couple but I need some opinions on this. Thanks, Ben |

Being the left-handed Marine that put the case deflector on the M16A2, I have always been sensitive to our left-handed minority "issues". That being said, if you are a right-handed shooter looking to put an ambo switch unit on your AR, be advised you may not like it. By that I mean you will be quite supprised how "conditioned" your right triger finger is to not having a serrated bump underneath it as you squeeze the trigger. Try one and you will see. We have had several military units order SR's with ambo safeties, only to find out later that most of the right-handed shooters took them off. What someone out there needs to make is a single lever selector that plugs into either side of the receiver. We (US Marine Corps)showed this idea to Colt back in the early 80's during the A2 program, but they did not carry it forward. We thought they would, so we had every M16A2 made with redundant SAFE/SEMI/BURST marking on the right side of the receiver. Now you know why. ColdBlue remembers... |

Quoted: What someone out there needs to make is a single lever selector that plugs into either side of the receiver. I have had several people tell me that you can reverse the single lever safety if you drill a hole opposite the one on the pin. I am fairly unfamiliar with what the internals of the safety looks like, so I have no idea where to drill the hole or how big, etc., but it may be worth asking on the board if this is possible. I am sure someone here could either corrodorate or refute what I am saying. I may look into this further. If I find anything one way or another, I'll post it. |
