As by the following question you will know that I am a newbee to the AR15 world.  I was looking at some today when I noticed that if you are not careful about were you lay your cheek you might meet up with an uncomfortable feeling when the bolt cycles.  Has this ever happened to anyone here.  (Come on, tell me the truth)  All the rifles that I looked at had the stocks that look like the collapsable stocks, and A2 sights.  Are the regular stock longer than these stocks that I'm looking at, or is it normal that you will need to place your cheek in a unnatural position?  Please help.  I want to buy my first AR, but I don't want to buy a gun that I don't feel comfortable with.

The bolt and carrier cycle inside the rifle in the upper receiver and then back into the buffer tube. Are you confusing this with the charging handle? The charging handle does not cycle with the rifle, it is only used to charge the first round before you shoot it. I have fired literally thousands of rounds in my AR's and never have had any type of "uncomfortable feeling."

Nothing uncomfortable about it.  However, you may (actually, you WILL) notice an odd BOING/springy-type sound from directly beneath your cheek.  This is normal and not the least uncomfortable.  Does take a little getting used to though...

I'm not sure what you mean by "end up with an uncomfortable feeling".

The stock should be fully extended (or fixed) and your nose should be touching the charging handle when you shoot.  The charging handle does not move unless you pull it by hand.
