Hi guys,I own a post-ban Colt AR15 with a 20" 5,56 NATO barrel.
I'd like to change my post-ban front sight (.750) with a pre-ban one (with the bayo lug).
The problem is that I bought a pre-ban front sight but there is a difference in the position of the 2 holes of the pins.
I'd like to know if I can find a pre-ban front sight with the pins holes in the same position of the ones of my post-ban sight.
Can somebody help me?

Thank You very much.

PS:I want the bayo lug only for aesthetic purpose.

Bye
Mauri

Adding a bayonet lug to a post ban rifle is illegal.

I don't think the AW ban applies in Italy.

This is a problem on replacing the A2 front sight. Even good machines can't drill holes exactly the same each time. Since the original pins were tapered you might think about having it re-drilled for roll pins. just my 2 cents.

No guys, no ban in Italy.
Thank You Pops, I tryied to cut the bayo lug from a pre-ban sight and to glue it to my post-ban one with a special glue...but It doesn't work well.
I think there is nothing to do, right?

Thank You very much guys.

Weldox,

All is not lost.  You can drill and tap the sight base for set screws.  The benefit of this is now your front sight is windage adjustable for a mechanical zero with your rear sight.  You need a 8/36 or 8/32 tap set($3.50) and (4) corresponding set screws(about 3/16" long).  Just tap the existing holes and put the screws in.

Set screws are usually used in conjunction with milled flats on barrels. I have not experienced any movement of the frontsights on my barrels that were previously pinned.

The problem is that the sight base and barrel are drilled together at the factory without thought of ever replacing the sight base.  I agree with the set screw idea since this is how the sight base is attached to ALL match rifles (also with some locktite for extra security)
