You're probably overthinking. I used QD sling mounts when I was in, and for RnG and cola and never had one disconnect. But it's certainly possible. They were discussing that earlier in this thread. If you're worried you can get a more secure option for the RnG. |

I've used QDs to mount my sling on all of the 20+ I've ran. Haven't had one fail yet- so that's almost guaranteed at the next one. I carry a little 550 cord, some black electrical tape, and a few zip ties for every RNG too. I have not needed any of this- but if I have a chest rig strap break, sling mount break, belt come apart, etc, I have some real lightweight gear to make due. |

We had a guy show up to a training event, had a side buckle on his (Condor  ) armor break, as he was putting it on.Got some 550 cord out of my pocket, southern-engineered the fix, and he was in the game. |

I'm sure most folks will never have an issue. I, who God apparently hates on the other hand, have had 2 QDs fail during matches leading to my rifle hitting the ground. Both were quality QDs (MagPul or BCM). |

As far as ditching the QDs--seems that most folks don't have an issue, but I have had two QDs (MagPuls) fail during a match that resulted in my rifle smacking the ground. Both rifles/QDs were dirty, but not muddy--and they hadn't been actuated at any time during the match. On the rifle-side, one was with a Midwest Industries rail, and the other was on a KAC rail, so decent kit all the way around. It's possible that somehow the buttons got pushed while the rifle was bouncing around on my back, or the little ball bearings in the QD failed, or the socket in the rail failed--but whatever the reason, the result was the same--a dropped rifle. Switching to the BFG wire loops and 550 cord for sling loops has completely fixed that issue. I have never needed to use the QD to ditch the sling in a hurry, so I'm not really losing any capability by ditching them. I'm jealous for those headed to Waco this weekend--I had to withdraw due to work. Magpul bilateral side button QD is known to release if just 1 of the buttons is pressed. They aren't recessed like standard QD can be (brand depending). |

You guys have given me a complex about QDs. I've replaced them on 2 slings and I have 1 sling with integrated (sewn in) QDs and I'm contemplating dremeling them off for paracord. am I doing the right thing? These guns get some sand / dirt / water on em. |

With that said, I ran a proving grounds match yesterday and one guy got his sling trapped under his pack strap and needed to quick detach and couldn't. I'm still more worried about dropping my rifle. | I see a lot of guys using backstrap style slings more and with the rifle on your back, it is harder to catch it if it starts to go due to a sling unintential disconnect. I run with mine string across the front and have had a tri-glide slip when the sling got wet and was able to keep ahold of the rifle. |

Back from the hotbox that is Legion Run and Gun. Another fantastic event. I have been fortunate to be a part of all 10 Legion RNGs. The reading of the names on dog tags chokes me up every time. This is the first RNG I've not worn a chest rig. With the warm temps, I didn't want to trap any more heat than necessary, and had to run a back-pack for hydration and extra ammo anyway. It hurt me on one stage, when I had to make an unexpected rifle reload- from the backpack- due to my failure to hit shit. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

I love this scope. It's been discontinued for quite a while- glad i have 2. Came in 7th overall in the run without achieving either of the bonuses. It was MUCH cooler on Sunday for the 10K than Friday for the staff run. I had a 1st place shooting stage win, a couple 2nd place shooting stage finishes, and a 3rd place shooting stage. Overall (and my division) I was 4th place. |

Top 5 finish @ Gun Run @ Dewitts. Great event as usual. 3.5 miles, 6 shooting stages, flat course. Brought a friend this time for his first one and he did great (smoked the shooting and walked most of the course) I love the weight of the ACOG but I need more time making sure my zero is true past 200. Don't get opportunities to go beyond 200 except a few targets at matches. Im trying to work up the courage to shoot one of these with SBR + red dot only but I chicken out each time. Attached File |

I was almost a top 10 shooter, but my skill gap to the top guys is pretty big if I'm objective - especially on the technical or longer distance rifle. Better positional setup, less hesitation, less dropped shots. This is the stuff I'm kicking myself about on the drive home. I am curious what some of you guys do for holster setup. I use a 7390 dropped a bit (mid-ride), and I don't have any need for a leg strap. I kinda hate 'em, when running, crawling, climbing, even long walks, etc., they just bug the heck out of me. Individual preference though, I say try one and see if it's right for you. |

Pros and cons like everything. Leg straps are annoying but it’s worth the trade off of my holster not flopping and sliding around on my belt IMO. I’ve used G-Code RTI mounts on Safariland holsters for probably a decade and have been happy with their Optimal Drop mount. |
