Would you C Clamp grip the ERGO extension? I have a Recon build and I don’t grab it out that far.

Actually, looking at the pictures a little closer I can see a lot of pressure pads ahead of the fsb. That makes sense.

@03RN

Because the ERGO extension was known to be a potential culprit behind a few lost PEQ zeros.  Just prior to going through the EOTG shooting package one of the Force Gunny's (great guy - well known in the community and well respected) suggested we mount them behind the FSB to the KAC rail for that reason.

Recon can wear any type of belt they need to carry a pistol, cowtail lanyard, mags, lifesaving equipment, IFAK, etc.  SOP to wear a gunbelt now in every platoon I was ever in pretty much, just needs to be a tactical color.

Not trying to be all "achtually" brother, just figured I'd chime in since I did that job for awhile.

Anybody ever seen one of these ITW? Grabbed it in the EE, guy said that according to Brent at GG&G, they were only made for MCCDC, MARSOC, and USSS. This one is USMC surplus.

Because it still works whether it’s in front of or behind the FSB. Some people set their gear up for what works the best for them, not because someone else told them to.

The top KAC rail is more secure than the clamp-on one in the front, I think.

I don't know a whole lot about the Marines and especially the TO&E of specialized units, but in this thread I've seen a variety of optics. Various Aimpoints, ACOGs and even the Arfcom hated Eotechs. Not talking about the LPVOs on some. I imagine those guys have a specific role.

Does the individual Marine operator have somewhat of a leeway when choosing an optic?

I want to dive down the rabbit hole....

The two biggest things that make this unique...  1.  The 1st gen(?) Ergo stock and 2.  The surefire muzzle attachment and suppressor.  Any info on this configuration would be most appreciated.  Surprisingly I don't have a lot of info about this particular configuration.

ETA:  Looks like a KAC M68 mount too.

It is a Magpul M93A2 stock, not the ERGO clone. And a SureFire FA556AR with the CAM4FA556 flash hider. They also used one that allowed the use of the 203 even suppressed.

This rifle belonged to Det 1, the Marine Corps predecessor to MARSOC, so not necessarily Recon, but it was formed from primarily Recon Marines. This is the only unit that used them (I don’t know what happened to them after Det1 was decommissioned), but these aren’t standard Recon weapons. The stocks were original Magpul M93 stocks that were eventually replaced with the newer versions of the M93 before decommissioning.
Your painted rifle is ugly, but I’m uglier, so send it to me and I’ll make it look good!

If it weren’t for double standards, we’d have no standards at all.

GGG knocked-off a bunch of other companies designs back in the day.  Swan's ARMS gear was one:

Did any units in the fleet ask for particular modifications or configurations during your time on the A2 program(or after that you are aware of)?

As I look at the pics posted in this thread I noticed most of them have PRI charging handles.   Does anyone know if they were purchased specifically for these or are they recycled from the MK12s?  Most seem to be used unsupressed so curious as to why they would need a gas deflecting charging handle.  Rifles with supressors dont seem to have them

PRI handles were slated for all suppressed M4A1’s, as were Knight’s ambi selectors. Whether they made it all the way on to the guns by default were a different story, but they were at least available when asked for by the end user if not already equipped.

Was anyone still buying from either by the time MARSOC stood up?
