Huh, interesting.  I had mine behind an MRO and I saw 2 distinctive dots.  It is a lot better behind an Eotech.

Nothing cutting edge but it all works.

And just to piss off everyone, my #3 go-to is an AK SBR triangle sidefolder w/RDS and a light.

Brownells had a killer deal on the 16” stripped M4A1 uppers going for a while.  I snagged one and hope they come back again.

Solid Franken-AR.  If it sends lead every time on command and that lead goes where you want it to, it’s a winner.  I’ve got Andersons as well, but those have AP lpks + mbt2s and the radian controls feel so much better than the milspec.  It all runs though.

I ran into issues with Anderson Uppers.  Cam Pin wear in the cutout to the point of failure within 12,000 rounds.  Got rid of all my Anderson and have a pile for the grandkids to play with, lol.

OK, I'll get shit for it, but here is my current duty rifle.

Anderson "Poverty Pony" lower with PSA 10.5" nitride barrel pistol kit. I added the Magpul furniture off of my Colt 16" carbine and an SBA3 brace. Red dot is a Primary Arms Advanced Red Dot that they ran on sale about this time last year. Sling is a Magpul MS1. I was on a TIGHT budget when I got it, so I got what I could afford. Almost 1000 rds through it so far (hardly an exhaustive test), not one single issue at all. Short, light, handy and, when fed with our current duty ammo (Speer 55gr Gold Dot), it should expand out to almost 200 yds, which is almost an unheard of shot in LE. A light is being installed shortly, as soon as I decide exactly what I want. As I get cash, I plan on getting better components and slowly rebuilding it, but so far, good to go. I chose a pistol build because I live a good, healthy spit from the OH-PA border and we end up in PA quite a bit. My wife, kids and I also go several times a year to visit my wife's family in the Laurel Highlands in PA and I didn't want the hassle of trying to remember to send the forms every year to take an SBR across state lines, so pistol it is. it is light, handy and fast to deploy from the tight confines of modern, small cruisers. For everything short of a complete end of the world scenario where the Govt is never coming back, this would be my "go to". Hell, I love this gun so much that maybe it would be my first option then, too.

My Colt started out as a pre-AWB 20" A2 HBAR. When a former Chief said he would allow us to carry rifles on duty, I bought a Bushmaster 16" Superlight barrel and a CAR type 2 position collapsible stock and installed them because while accurate as hell, the 20" HBAR was an absolute pig to carry. That Chief never followed through and it sat in the safe for a while. Another former Chief actually followed through and I made a few changes, namely Magpul furniture (which is where the Magpul forearm and PG on my 10.5" came from). The front sight base on the Bushy barrel turned out to be canted somewhat and the rear sight on the Colt is only a few clicks from being bottomed out on the left side of the carry handle, but it did zero. I have several thousand rounds through the Colt and, again, never a malf of any kind, including 1200 rds in 3 days with no cleaning when I went to rifle instructor class last Oct. Currently, this would be my "End Of the World" rifle because of the better ballistics. Because of the lightweight barrel, it is light and handy, although not as handy as the above 10.5".

Sometime in the not too distant future, I plan on building another 14.5/16" carbine and putting the Colt back to it's 20" HBAR original form. Plans are for a 14.5/14.7" pencil barrel with fixed front sight base and some form of pinned and welded flash suppressor. I'm also considering a 16" midlength in the event I don't find a 14.5" I like. I'd like cold hammer forged and chrome lined, although with the current info about nitrided barrels, that may be an option, too. Flat top upper for a good red dot, BUIS, Magpul furniture (unless I find something I like better in the meantime) and a good trigger. I'm still on a tight budget for gun stuff, so it will be a while till it happens.

LMT upper, 14.5" barrel (P&W Vortex FH), BCG and CG.
Ergo grip, plug cut out, zip tie inside.
ITL IR MARS (red dot + slaved IR laser), pressure pad at 10:00.
Israeli rubber buttpad
Arms #40 BUIS
Israeli sling, plastic hardware replaced with metal. 2 AA batteries in pouch.
Streamlight Railmount 1, pressure pad at 12:00. Attached with Israeli bayonet lug rail.
CAT TQ on stock.
M193.

I have other fancier rifles, but this is the lightest package that gives me an optic, IR laser for nv, and a white light. Every component can run on AA batteries for redundancy.

6920 I built up into a Block 1.  Replaced the 16” barrel with the SOCOM.  Magpul I had engraved with my former department logo.  Wanted a mil spec rifle that would be a great defense weapon.  Everything on it is USGI issue or Colt.

Either of these two. I've had the bushmaster the longest so it's got the best parts. BCM lower parts kit with a Larue MBT two stage trigger.
Magpul STR stock with a bravo company buffer tube. Midwest industries rail.
Magpul pro back up sights.
I have a 3x vortex magnifier for it.
Second is a heavy barrel 16" nitride with a nickel boron Bcg.
It also has a Larue MBT two stage trigger.
Aimpoint comp4 with a quick attach 3x magnifier
Magpul ctr stock.
Both have a surefire 600c weapon light in a quick release mount.

Nice setup!  This image reminded me of something that may be useful.  A bit off topic but here it is anyway.  I found that I can perfectly fit 36 mags in a 40mm ammo can, a side not, you can also store 2800 rounds of loose .556 in a 40mm ammo can.  I know this isn't supposed to be a ammo thread, but I don't mind other SHTF items.  These being some of mine.

agree on KAC.  I tend to target "upper value" range of things and BCM seems to fall into that category.  I have a few of them which I wouldn't be able to way for4 KAC despite the fact that they're tits.

My current go to is this one:

8.3" 300 balckout.
Omega 9k
KAC most things
NV ready with both optics

Might sell one of the RDSs. I prefer the reticle of the EoTech, but I can leave the Aimpoint on for a decade; decisions decisions and first world problems.

The most likely event that would require the use of lethal force by me, in my opinion, is a home invasion. So, I built this for HD. (See the contrasting SHTFantasy rifle below)

I live in a small town in the burbs on 3/4 of an acre. I'm not going to be taking 500 yard shots (probably not even 50 yards). I don't need all the zooms and lumens. I just need something short, light and effective that maneuvers well within the confines of my home. Even with everything on it, it's not heavy by any means. Suppressed, it's the same length as an unsuppressed MK18. The SiCo 9k suppresses amazingly on this rifle, not exaggerating. The performance blew me away. Nice to know the whole fam won't go deaf if, heaven forbid, a "range hot" situation happens inside.

For SHTFantasyFun where I have to pick one, bug out and roam through the wasteland with unknown distance engagements I'd probably pick this:

12.5" with LPVO Hopefully I'll have an AEM3 and PEQ on it before things get too hairy
