Like what I said at the Expanse thread at the Colt Industry forum, your serial number is very low 75K range compared to my early LE6920 roll marked M4 Carbine that I bought new in early 2012. My early production carbine have 100K serial number range, I'm not sure if there are any M4 Carbine marked lowers that are below 100K serial numbers. Also your mag catch is a one piece type (no rivet at the left side) and short selector lever which are the same as the Expanse lowers assembled in TX. I have an early Expanse model CE1000 with LE prefix I bought new in early 2016 with QR code above the selector, the markings are exactly the same as the LE6920 series carbines at that time period which have laser engraved QR code, Colt Defense, and serial numbers, the rest of the markings are roll marked. My lower have the typical Expanse low mass match type nickle finished hammer, one piece mag catch (no rivet), short selector lever with indicator line at right side, and unmarked standard carbine buffer. |

Your lower is engraved, mine, and many others are not. I think that many of the complete lowers sold by Brownells are blems, and Colt dumped them to get rid of them. Yep, l got mine from Brownell and it came in a Colt box. I made it into a pistol 1st, as I do with all my lowers. If it is a blemish, the only blemish is the L in the Rollmark.

It appears to me you are hanging your whole theory on one customer service agent not being able to find it at the time. Colt has multiple FFL's for different subsidiaries. Maybe they weren't looking in the right spot. There are basically 3 ways that someone other then Colt can manufacture one with Colts name on it. Licence the trademark. This is like the the Umarex 22's. It still has Umarex's name on it and place of manufacture and just uses a colt trademark. Colt competition also fell under this category. Colt also licensed Carl Walther, Germany to manufacture those Colt .22LR's. It's Colt markings left side and right side has Made under License by Colt Carl Walther, Germany I picked up a couple Colt lowers two or three years ago. I honestly can't remember how they were packages. But the 'L' is light on both. In this pic, the one on top is one of those .22's made in Germany with Colt's name on it. Got it several years ago and just got around to shooting it. Cheaper to shoot lol
